Drawing acts as a fundamental medium in Andrej Julher's practice, however, he tends to apply it in different forms and combinations, therefore many formats, such as illustration, poster, mural, print, fanzine and more, are present in his artistic output. His drawings are patiently crafted but often planned along the way, allowing them to have a dose of spontaneity in comparison to the original idea of their design. Julher’s design studies no doubt inform his artistic practice and vice versa. He finds artistic refuge in the gap between the two disciplines and regards that gap to be a perfect platform for his distinctive storytelling. Practicing drawing as a conversation, in Julher's drawing the emphasis is on a rich narrative, where there is, on one hand, a contemplative aspect and, on the other, a certain automatization in adding shapes, patterns, characters, and language to what evolves into being both an image and a story.
