For over a decade Conger’s collage work, sculptures and installations have engaged the “lost” nature of the “found” object using subjectivity, emotional content, and empathic titles which open pathways to the human condition. This discovered content moves to render the condition of abandonment into meditative, sensual, and temporal situations. Conger received his master of fine arts degree from Illinois State University in 1993. On numerous occasions, he has served on panelist, jurist, and lecturer and has three artist books published. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. as well as Austria, Germany, Poland, Ireland and New Zealand with venues such as the Herron School of Art, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the St. Louis Art Museum, and Golden Parachutes in Berlin. His work was recently shown at Goldfinch Gallery in Chicago in November of 2018.
