The work of Daniela Macé-Rossiter (*1986 in Paris, France) explores photography through a process of mise en abyme and stratification of the image medium. Investigating the origin and end of things, she deconstructs reality in an endless space between folds and strata. The lightness and volatility of the image, as opposed to the inherent gravity of the material, reflect the dynamic of antagonism that embodies Daniela's artwork. Her work takes place in what may be described as metaphotography, transcending the photographic process.
The series « Onde » is composed of 3 images printed on veiled cotton, and doubled with a silver organza layer, forming wavy folds on the surface. Three rythms proposed around a unique image of a couple thrown in a spiral movement, finding themselves between what the philosopher Gilles Deleuze names the smooth space and the streaked space.
