Andrea Dramicanin was born in 1990 in Belgrade, Serbia, and currently lives and works in Paris, France. Dramicanin’s works predominantly explore the essence of what makes an entity definable and recognisable — raising the question of identity. For Dramicanin, many aspects change throughout our lives and are continually affected by the choices we as individuals make. The same applies to our virtual identities, which arise through interaction with others, and create a certain reputation. Andrea favours sculpture in order to express herself, which she does frequently by applying post-modern principles of collaging various influences and references from art history to enunciate a contemporary statement. Whether it is a particular citation from the European Dark Age, or in the form of an artistic flirtation with pop culture, Dramicanin creates exciting, powerful and concise pieces that evoke unique emotions in the eye of the observer.
