Collin David Clarke is an artist from London, who is currently living in Sankt Pauli, Germany. Clarke has a formal education in art and design and now works both as an artist and a commercial art director. Clarke draws on a variety of critical and creative skills to work on bespoke commercial projects, particularly within the music industry. Continually pushed to create new ideas and to formulate innovative techniques in his projects, the artist is highly motivated to continually search for new ways of working and creating due to the environment of his professional career. Clarke’s artistic works draw on this commercial skillset, and the artist’s engagement with the leading culture of design is highly evident in his cutting-edge style — most notably in his black and white photographic series. Clarke makes use of a notable postmodern style, where the artist articulates with humour clashing iconographies, figures and historic periods, in an effortlessly contemporary and coherent photographic series. Whilst Clarke’s professional and artistic worlds draw on his creative skills, the artist notes that his personal creations are far more raw and spontaneous, they offer the artist a space for his ideas to live in their “purest form, uncensored”.
