Anne Marie Taggart is an artist currently living and working in Belfast, where she studied sculpture at the Belfast School of Art in Northern Ireland. Taggart’s sculptures are most notable for their use of unusual, found materials. The sculptures are built not on the narratives of these curious items and their past, but on the effect of their dislocation. Through scrambling, interrupting and re-routing the timelines of these objects, they bridge the domestic and the institutional, they incite our curiosity, they are at once modern and nostalgic. Temporarily crafted together, Taggart has found a unique space to occupy in the world of contemporary sculpture. Taggart was awarded the Flax Art Graduate Award in 2011, and was selected as one of a group of the most promising emerging artists in Northern Ireland in 2014. Taggart’s first solo show was held at the Belfast School of Art in 2016.
